1. Glenrothes Motor Sport Club Ltd will promote a Clubsport status Production Car Autotest and a Clubman status Autotest on Sunday March 26th 2017 at Knockhill Racing Circuit, by Dunfermline, Fife.
  2. The meeting will be held under the General Regulations of the RACMSA Ltd incorporating the provisions of the International Code of the FIA, these supplementary regulation, and any written instructions the promoting club may issue.
  3. MSA Permit No. TBA / TBA
  4. The event is open to all fully elected members of the organising Club and also members of the following invited Clubs:
    Dunfermline CC, 750 MC, Stonehaven & Dist. MC, Scottish Sporting CC, South of Scotland CC, 63 CC, EUMSC, Solway CC, GUMSC, Aberdeen & District MC, Berwick & District MC, East Ayrshire CC, Knockhill MSC, 55 CC, and all other clubs who are members of the SACC.
  5. All entrants must produce a valid club membership card.

    GMSC Membership costs £10 per adult, £2 per junior (16 or under), and may be applied for on the day.

  6. The programme of the meeting will be: Scrutineering starts at 10:00a.m. and any competitor not signed on by 10:45a.m. may be excluded. First car starts at 11:00a.m.
  7. The Production Car Autotest will consist of 6 classes as follows:
    1. Front wheel drive saloons up to 1400cc.
    2. Front wheel drive saloons over 1400cc.
    3. Front wheel drive cars with no MOT.
    4. Rear wheel drive saloons.
    5. Rear wheel drive open and sports cars.
    6. Hybrid, Battery or Electric Powered Cars- Must be Standard Production Cars.

    The Clubman event will consist of 6 classes as follows:

    1. Front wheel drive saloons up to 1400cc.
    2. Front wheel drive saloons over 1400cc.
    3. All specials and sports cars.
    4. Rear wheel drive saloons up to 1400cc.
    5. Rear wheel drive saloons over 1400cc.
    6. Production cars as per MSA Technical regulations F12.1 through F12.4
  8. All vehicles must comply with RACMSA Technical Regulations.
  9. Child Protection: If competitor is under 18, Entry Form must be countersigned by a parent or guardian. The parent or guardian, or an appointed representative must be present during the competition and must sign on the competitor's signing on sheet. If a parent or guardian will not be present, a responsible adult representative must be appointed, must show written authority from the parent or guardian to act as the child's representative and must countersign the competitor's signing on sheet.
  10. Awards will be presented as follows in each event:
    1st in class - an award providing 3 or more start in the class.
    FTD - an award.
  11. The entry list opens on receipt of these regulation and closes on Sunday 26th March 2017. The entry fee is £15.00.

  19. Competitors will be identified by numbers, which will be provided by the organisers.
  20. Marketing and penalties will be as printed in the appropriate section of the MSA General Regulations.
  21. All other General Regulations of the RACMSA apply as written except for the following, which are modified:
    F.4.4.3 Pylons may be less than 1 metre high.

A GMSC Club Car will be available to use if you do not want to use your own car.
A Donation to the Club for the use of the car would be greatly appreciated.

Congratulations to Des Campbell/Christine Sanderson on the win, to Gordon Thomson/Niall Thomson on the Clubman win, and to all of our class award winners. Awards collection shall be arranged where practicable (e.g. at events such as the North West Stages, Saltire Rally, etc.), or failing which shall be posted in the coming days.
 
May I take this opportunity to thank you for your support of the event. We hope you enjoyed it - it's your smiles at the end that make organising these things worthwhile! Any and all feedback shall be very much welcome and appreciated - what you liked, what you disliked, and where you think the event can be improved - so that we can continue to make strides to provide you, the competitor, with what we hope to be the best night rally experience in Scotland.
 
The Aquarius Navigational Rally shall return... the 2018 edition *provisional* date is 3rd/4th February. And with the event upping sticks to a new Glenrothes/Kirkcaldy-based route, there may well be plenty of new lanes to explore...!

GENERAL REGULATIONS & PENALTIES.

<Reminder!> R.10.4.4  – The penalty to be imposed for stopping within sight of but outside the control area of any Intermediate Time Control and the Finish Time Control shall be 0 minutes.

N.B. As such, no Measured Distance facility shall be provided, nor shall Time/Speed/Distance tables be required. The organisers' mileages shall be deemed to be correct in all cases, and shall not be subject to protest nor appeal.

 

 

TIMING & CONTROLS.

Control & timing procedures are elaborated upon as follows:

R.9.2.1. Any control is considered to extend for 50m around the actual point at which Officials are making their records, or 3m in the case of NAM “See Diagram” controls. You may advance into the control area up to one minute preceding your due time, and wait for your time.

R.12.3. The time of arrival at or departure from a control including intermediate and final controls of Regularity Sections, will be the time at which the Time Card is presented by the Competitor concerned, providing all crew members and cars are within the control area. All marshals shall be instructed that no card marking shall occur until the time due is shown on their clock.

R.30.2.2. Where a control at the end of a section timed to the second (or to the second and part thereof) also forms the start of a section timed to the minute, the time of departure will be considered as being the same as arrival, but ignoring any seconds or parts thereof.

Aquarius Navigational Rally 2017 on 4th/5th February 

On behalf of Glenrothes Motor Sport Club, it is our pleasure to welcome you to the 2017 Aquarius Navigational Rally, on the night of 4/5 February 2017. The rally will feature approx 118 miles - of which ~75% shall be competitive motoring - of the best lanes in Fife & Lowland Perthshire, starting and finishing in Kinross.

This year we continue to build on our well-received format of recent years of a "no nonsense" fully pre-plot "tulips and map refs" navigational format, with an all-tarmac route which enables standard unmodified road cars to compete. Improvements for this year include an even more compact route - all within a 13 mile radius of Kinross, inc. centralised start, refuel and finish locations - and timing schedule - with the first car due away at 21.21 and back at the finish at 02.01.

Through this, we aim to encourage those new to night events or to the area, whilst still providing experienced crews with a rewarding night's sport (& a well-earned breakfast!). All for an entry fee of £75.

Marshals will also be made very welcome, and we'll do our best to give you a great night's sport. We offer a free breakfast for all marshals manning two controls, and you'll also receive free Glenrothes MSC membership for 2017. This year we shall again be the opening round of the 2017 Scottish Association of Car Clubs Navigational Rally Championship, and a round of the 2017 Historic Rally Car Register - HRCR Premier Rally Championship. In addition to the National B event, we will again also be offering a supporting Clubman event, giving those without an MSA competition licence a chance to be part of the action.

We look forward to extending you a warm welcome to Kinross on 4th February!

The Kingdom Stages 2016 - Results 

Glenrothes MSC rounded off a busy year with the Kingdom Stages on Saturday 5th November.

The 2015 winner, John Rintoul, unfortunately withdrew in the days leading up to the event, but there was still a mouthwatering array of machinery ready to compete come the start. After a minute’s silence to remember Robin Laird and Richard Hyslop the airfield was lit up with a fierce competition.

Arron Newby and Gary Tomlinson were newcomers to Crail, and squared up with local lads Alan Kirkcaldy and Pete Carstairs. Only a few seconds separated the crews all day, but Alan in his Mk2 failed to close the 7 second gap in the final stage, with Arron’s Subaru taking the spoils.

Third place went to Summer Stages winners Alistair and Colin Inglis in their Lotus Exige.

Once again we are over-subscribed, thanks to the competitors for that. Also thanks to the marshals and officials who give so much to ensure you have a safe and enjoyable event.

 

Friday Scrutineering and Signing On

Scrutineering, noise and signing-on are available from 4.00pm to 7.30pm on Friday, at our new venue, FCE Group, Wellesley Road, Methil KY8 3AB (opposite Patterson Street). Please use this slot if at all possible. You MUST contact Willie Greig to book your scrutineering time, contact  WillieGreig@talktalk.net 07703 436023 (mobile). See attached for directions and follow the arrows. Do not attempt to access the site from Methilhaven Road, or go the old place at Banbeath! Many thanks to John Rintoul for letting us use this facility.

Please be sympathetic to residents and businesses in the area, and follow the instructions of marshals. Please arrive at your agreed time and leave as soon as you are sorted.  Parking is limited, there will be a police presence.

Refueling

Please refuel at your own service area. Read and take heed of the guidance attached.

 

Saturday Morning

Please be on your best behaviour travelling to the venue, in particular driving through Crail and the East Neuk villages. Expect a high police presence. Signing on and scrutineering are in the hangar at Crail. Please park in the signed area and keep the stage access and refueling area clear. Stage reconnaissance is permitted on foot or by pedal cycle but this must be complete before the crew briefing (08:00).

 

 

Numbers and Stickers

Numbers will be provided at signing on.

 

Service Area

Maximum speed limit in the service area is 10mph. Grass areas can be used for parking but no wheel spinning.  After

8am vehicles entering the airfield will be subject to a per car charge.  No exceptions. Competing cars cannot leave the venue to warm brakes or tyres; penalty is exclusion and paying to get back in.  No quad bikes, go-peds, mopeds, drones, helicopters etc allowed, leave them at home.

 

Damage

Drivers will be liable for the £350 excess for any 3rd party damage (fences etc).

Briefing

One member of every crew must attend the briefing, held outside the hangar at 08:00. Time cards will be issued after the briefing.

 

HQ

Rally HQ is in a cabin by the hangar, results will be published from the results cabin. The interior of the cabin is out of bounds to all persons other that signed on officials. The notice board will be in the hangar.

 

Litter

Black bin liners will be issued with the start pack. Put your rubbish in the bag, and put it in a bin or take it away with you. Especially, do NOT leave empty fuel containers or cans of used oil; take them away with you. Service on a groundsheet, and clear up any spills of oil or other fluids. Competitors are held responsible for the actions of their service crews, and may be penalised, up to and including exclusion.

 

Friday Night

You may stay on the airfield – a charge will be levied by the landowner for anything left overnight.

 

Stopped in Stage

Usual SOS/OK board and warning triangle rules apply. If a stage has finished and you are still in stage, you cannot move your car unless specifically instructed by an official or marshal, even if your car miraculously works again. Do not work on your car in a dangerous position.                               If in doubt, don’t move!  Stand well clear of competing cars if you become a spectator.

 

Recovery

Recovery will take place after Stage 4 and at the end of the rally. Other recovery may also be possible, however we will not delay the start of subsequent stages to allow recovery. Please note that if you wish to enter the Trophy(less)

Rally, you will need to be re-scrutineered, so contact Rally HQ.

 

Out of Bounds Areas

Some areas of the airfield, including all buildings other than in use by rally personnel, are out of bounds. Any unauthorized people found in these areas will cause the associated crew to be excluded. There are clearly marked

spectator areas. Competitors, service crews and spectators must stay off the crops, and must also keep off the bales

and fences. Competitors may be penalised for the actions of service crews, friends, etc.

 

Lunch

The burger van will give priority to serving marshals before competitors and service crews. Please be patient, they have been standing out in the cold while you have been sitting in your nice cosy car.

 

Missing Details

If you left blank spaces on your entry form – like co-driver name and address, next of kin name and address and contact details – please take a couple of minutes and email the missing bits to  treasurer@glenrothes-msc.com.

Directions to Scrutineering

 

From the Forth Bridge leave M90 at J2a and take A92 towards Kirkcaldy and Glenrothes for 10 miles

Follow the A92 dual carriageway past Kirkcaldy West exit then at the Kirkcaldy East exit, take the third exit onto the A921. After 0.7 miles turn left on the A915 towards Leven for 6 miles. At the Cameron Bridge roundabout turn right and follow this road for 1.5 miles, then turn left on to Wellesley Road. Follow this for 1 mile and watch for the arrows on the left.

 

From Tay Bridge, follow A92 for 24 miles to Glenrothes.

In Glenrothes, go straight on at first roundabout then under footbridge and turn left at roundabout onto A911 towards Leven for 4.2 miles.

At next roundabout take third exit A915 signed for Kirkcaldy. At the next roundabout (Cameron Bridge) take the first exit. Follow this road for 1.5 miles, then turn left on to Wellesley Road. Follow this for 1 mile and watch for

the arrows on the left.

 

 

From Perth, leave M90 at J9 Bridge of Earn turning left onto A912, at the Bien Inn turn left still on A912 to

Gateside.

In Gateside turn left onto A91 for 2 miles, then turn right onto A912 through Strathmiglo and Falkland. At roundabout, turn right (3rd exit) onto A92.

In Glenrothes, go straight on at first roundabout then under footbridge and turn left at roundabout onto A911 towards Leven for 4.2 miles.

At next roundabout take third exit A915 signed for Kirkcaldy. At the next roundabout (Cameron Bridge) take the first exit. Follow this road for 1.5 miles, then turn left on to Wellesley Road. Follow this for 1 mile and watch for the arrows on the left.

 

 

Directions to the Venue

 

Crail Airfield is to the East of Crail Village. Postcode KY10 3XL will get you close then follow the arrows. If you find the North Sea you have gone too far.

 

 

 

 

 

Service Area Risk Management

 

Entrants, competitors and service crew members should be aware of their own and other people’s safety and well being, when competing in motor sport.

 

1. All entrants should have an environmental ground-sheet in place before work commences on the vehicle.

2. All service vehicles should have an environmental spill-kit, for use in the event of liquid spillage. (Competing cars should also carry such a kit.)

3. Fire extinguishers should be readily available at all times when vehicles are to be worked on, particularly in the event of any welding or grinding being carried out and when vehicles are being refuelled.

4. Vehicles should be supported by axle stands, chassis sill stands or ramps, all with recommended base plates, when

raised in the air by trolley or any other types of jack. Engines should not be run when the vehicle is raised on stands. No other work on the car should be attempted, when raising or lowering of the car is taking place.

5. If re-fuelling is permitted in the Service Area, this should be the last operation to be carried out before the vehicles leave. The vehicle should be off any support stands, have all four wheels on the ground, have all other work

ceased and have no occupants, when re-fuelling commences. Ideally re-fuelling should be by hand pumping,

rather than from hand held containers.

6. Spillage of any liquid should be contained immediately by the crew concerned.

 

A) Storage & Use of Petroleum Spirit

1. Containers should comply with the relevant British Standard, should be  marked “Petroleum Spirit-Highly

Flammable” and be kept from any source of ignition.

2. All empty containers should be removed from the venue after the event.

3. Petrol is to be used as fuel only, not for any other purpose.

4. All vehicle re-fuelling is to take place in the open air. A “No Smoking” area should be enforced and an operative

should be on standby with a fire extinguisher.

5. Refuelling operatives, including those standing by with fire extinguishers, should ensure they are wearing protective clothing, including gloves and eye protection.

 

B) Hazardous Substances

1. Some vehicle parts, for example brake & clutch linings, contain asbestos. Competitors are encouraged to use non- asbestos substitutes where possible. Where asbestos is used, every effort should be made to prevent dust being released.

2. Some mineral oils may cause skin cancers. Where contact does occur, contamination should be washed off immediately. The wearing of any contaminated clothing should be avoided.

3. Other substances may cause ill health. Suppliers will have information about the possible effects of their products, on request.

 

C) Electrical Safety

1. All electrical equipment should be maintained in a safe condition.

2. Extension leads & cables should be neoprene, oil resistant flexible cable.

3. All electrical equipment used externally should be weatherproof and tools should be “double” or “all insulated”

against electric shock.

4. Electrical equipment and hand tools should not be used where flammable vapours are present.

 

 

D) Fire Precautions

1. All competition and service vehicles should carry a suitable fire extinguisher.

2. Special consideration should be made before lighting any cooking appliance.

3. All sources of ignition should be kept away from any fuel store or re-fuelling area.

4. Fire extinguishers should not be moved from their known location, other than when in use.

5. In the event of any fire, a report should be made to the organisers of the event before leaving the venue.

6. All entrants are encouraged to train their personnel in correct fire prevention and treatment procedures.

 

E) Compressed Air Equipment

1. Air blasts from over inflated tyres can cause severe injury. Tyres should not be inflated above manufacturers recommendation figures.

2. Always stand clear when inflating tyres.

3. Compressors & air lines should be inspected regularly.

4. Compressed air cylinders should be stored and used to suppliers recommendations.

 

F) General Working Practices

1. All working areas should be kept clean & tidy. All waste & spillage should be cleared up immediately, removed by the entrant at the end of the event and disposed of in a responsible manner.

2. Trailing cables & hoses should not be allowed to create a trip hazard and should not be run across access or roadways.

3. Whenever vehicle engines are being run, adequate ventilation must be in place.

4. All safety notices should be complied with.

5. Any personnel carrying out work should ensure that they adopt safe working practices at all times.

6. Service crews and competitors need to be aware of the long periods of exposure to cold, wet or heat, experienced while on location in service areas and dress accordingly.

7. Children under 16 years of age are to be closely supervised and should not leave your designated area unaccompanied. They are children and as such are your responsibility!!

G) Noise

1. Exposure to excessive noise may result in hearing loss, or other complaints. These may be short term, or after prolonged exposure, permanent.

2. Where exposure to noise is unavoidable, ear defenders should be worn.

 

H) Manual Handling

1. Lifting, carrying and propelling of loads by bodily force is a major cause of industrial injuries. All entrants are encouraged to train their personnel in safe manual handling techniques.

 

I) Waste

1. Entrants should remove all waste from the venue, including containers, packaging, tyres, oils etc. They must be disposed of it in a responsible manner.


J) Vehicle Safety

1. A 10 mph speed limit should be observed at all times in a Service Area, other than for Emergency Vehicles which may be attending an incident.

2. There may be pedestrians in Service Areas. Special care must be taken in these circumstances, to avoid collisions.

3. The unauthorised use of mopeds, motorcycles, scooters, go-peds, quads etc. is forbidden in Service Areas.

4. Vehicles may only be driven by persons holding valid driving licences for that class of vehicle.

 

K) First Aid

1. Any person sustaining injury or illness, should seek treatment from the event emergency services, by initially reporting to the Senior Official in charge of the Service Area, who will ensure the appropriate response.

 

L) Public Safety

1. Entrants and their associated personnel should act in a manner so as not to put either themselves or any other person at risk of injury.

 

M) Reporting of Accidents & Incidents

1. All accidents where any person sustains injury, or where damage to property occurs, should be reported immediately to the Senior Official in charge of the Service Area.

 

N) Further Regulations and Information

1. Entrants are reminded of their obligations to comply with the requirements of the appropriate sporting regulations at all times. These Guidance Notes should be read in conjunction with all relevant regulations.

The Kingdom Stages 2016 Unseeded Entry List 

The unseeded entry list is now live.  We delayed the publication of the list to allow extra time for entries as the Club site was down for a short time. 

Once again we are oversubscribed, however if you wish to enter please do so as we anticipate some changes in the weeks to come, with a number of events still to take place before the Kingdom.

KINGDOM STAGES 2016 

 

November approaches and it is therefore time at Glenrothes MSC for our flagship event, the Kingdom Stages 2016.  Concluding one of our busiest years for events, this rally is also the final counter of three Championships, including the Blackwood Plant Hire Scottish Tarmack Rally Championship.

The Kingdom Stages has been our pinnacle event for decades, and has seen many different forms.  Originally it was a farm road event, then it moved to the forest  and became a counter of the SRC, evolving into a multi-venue tarmac rally and now a single venue at Crail Airfield. 

First run in 1977, the rally was the brainchild of Tam Ness, who was Clerk for many years.  His son Rab Ness has stepped into that role, and the Glenrothes MSC members compete for the Tam Ness Memorial Trophy.

The Kingdom Stages is the “end of term” event for tarmac competitors and we look forward to delivering a grand finale to your season.

If you are free prior to the event, assistance with set up is always welcome, on the previous Sunday and the Thursday and Friday; we’re at the airfield from 10am but best to let Rab Ness know you are coming on president@glenrothes-msc.com.
