Another Exciting Season is Anticipated for Rallying 14 to 17 Year Olds……

The start of the 2014 season for the Brick & Steel Junior 1000 Ecosse Challenge has been heralded with the publication of the Championship Regulations.  The car rally Championship for 14 to 17 year olds is going into its third year and interest is very strong from young people who seek the adrenalin rush that this exciting sport of rallying can bring.

The 2014 season will contain 8 rallies covering the length and breadth of Scotland and one “International” venture to Anglesey for the final event of the 2014 season. The 2014 events programme is:

March 30th        Boyndie Junior Rally, Aberdeenshire
April 20th          Kames Spring Junior Rally, Muirkirk, N Ayrshire
June 14th           Crail Junior Summer Stages, Crail, Fife
July 13th            ALBAR Kames Junior Rally, Muirkirk, N Ayrshire
August 10th       Solway Coast Junior Rally, Kirkcudbright, Dumfries & Galloway
September 21st  Knockhill Junior Rally, Knockhill, Dunfermline
October 19th      Kames Autumn Junior Rally, Muirkirk, N Ayrshire
November 1/2nd Glyn Memorial Junior Rally, Anglesey

There are separate Junior 1000 Championships in England/Wales and N Ireland as well as Scotland. For the first time, all 3 Championships will compete side by side on the Solway Coast Rally near Kircudbright in August. And in November on Anglesey the Scottish competitors will go up against the English/Welsh competitors.

The Mission Statement of the Brick & Steel Junior 1000 Championship is:

“To educate and prepare young people for a future in rallying through training and participation”.

As always, safety will play a major element in what we do and we are rightly proud of the achievements of our young competitors. At least 10 young people graduated from the Ecosse Challenge Junior 1000 Championship in 2012 and 2013 and over the next couple of months a group of 6 or so newcomers will undergo basic training. They will join the youngsters who will remain from the 2013 season to make up “The Class of 2014”. There are still opportunities for any 14 to 17 year old to join in the fun.

Brick & Steel will continue as title sponsor and will be joined by several other organisations who will lend support to the training and development budgets of the Championship.
