Edwards Wins Summer Stages
Bruce Edwards and Grum Willcock ended up victors in the GMSC Crail Summer Stages in their Darrian T9, winning by a 40 second margin from Gary and Gordon Adam in their Escort. Both John Rintoul and Tom Morris suffered mechanical woes while in strong positions, and there was a tie for third between the Subarus of Colin Gemmell and Ross Fernie, settling in favour of Colin due to his time on SS1.
Class winners were:
Ross Fernie/Craig Simkiss
|
Class 5 |
Barry Renwick/Steve Dargan | Class 4 |
Ross Marshall/Dave Robbson | Class 3 |
John Marshall/Scott Crawford | Class 2 |
Ross Carbry/Charley Sayer-Payne | Class 1 |
Ross Carbry didn’t even know he had an entry until Friday lunchtime, so for a last minute rush he did really well. Graeme Rintoul and his father Jim were the first GMSC crew home in their Fiesta.
72 of the 91 Seniors entered completed the rally, an exceptionally high proportion, but unfortunately Jock McFarlane, George Fell and Roy Millar all rolled, caught out by tight sections at the airfield.
Rallying returns to Crail for the Kingdom Stages, with a revised date of 14th November.
