Maximum attack autotest report
South of Scotland Car Club held the only Scottish round of the Brittish Autotest Championship at Kames Motor Sport Complex on 15th July, it was also the 3rd round of the RALLYSCORE Scottish Autotest Championship.
The 19 strong entry featured a good selection of cars, from purpose built built specials to road cars.
There were 3 superb tests with all 6 of each runs counting towards the results.
The weather was changeable to say the least, going from bright sunshine to heavy rain showers, but the new track surface dried very quickly.
Alistair Moffat put on a masterly display in his Mini special to take FTD by 10 seconds from Richard Pinkney in his Westfield, Willie Keaning was 3rd in his Sylvia Striker.
There were only 2 Scottish Autotest Championship entries – Oly McCollum and Paul Davidson. Oly did very well getting his MX5 through some of the tighter tests without hitting the poles. Making a welcome return to Autotesting in his amazing Seat Mi, now producing 120 bhp and a self built 2 speed gearbox.
Paul finished 17th overall and 4th in class and Oly finished 19th overall and 2nd in class.
Avery slick event and great tests from Willie and his team, I am hopeful we will get more entries from the Scottish Championship next year.
